Heating and cooling can make up a large part of your home’s energy use. Installing a high-efficiency HVAC system that meets SMUD’s requirements can boost comfort, lower utility bills, and qualify for rebates up to $2,500. As of January 2026, SMUD still offers $2,500 for variable-stage gas-to-electric conversions, $1,500 for two-stage gas-to-electric conversions, a $2,000 Go Electric Bonus (panel upgrade), and $500 for electric-to-electric upgrades.
